SAN FRANCISCO – Maxar Technologies won a $44 million contract option from the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency to continue to provide to the U.S. Defense Department, the intelligence community and other government agencies with access to unclassified high-resolution commercial imagery from Maxar and other commercial data providers.
Maxar announced Oct. 4 the award of the contract renewal for the Global Enhanced GEOINT Delivery (G-EGD) program. The contract, which began September 1, 2021, is the second of three options included in the contract, which has a total potential value of up to $176 million.
The G-EGD program was established in 2011 to give government agencies access to Maxar’s historical imagery library and its ongoing daily collections. In 2020, NGA added Planet Federal and BlackSky data to the store of map-ready, unclassified imagery that NGA shares with federal government agencies and dozens of international partners.
“The G-EGD platform provides U.S. and allied users with access to geospatial intelligence from a variety of industry providers at locations around the globe,” Maxar CEO Dan Jablonsky said in a statement. “This ‘one-stop shop’ for commercial imagery access across federal agencies and military branches is an essential element for many national security and humanitarian missions. Maxar is proud to continue supporting warfighters and analysts with the information and insight to make confident decisions.”
